AIRLINE WEB SITES

We have listed here links to hundreds of airline websites which in most cases are an important source for information relative to your flight and in many instances your destination. Some of the airlines even provide the latest estimated waiting times. Some of the more common features are:

Baggage Information Most of the sites will instruct you about the airlines policy with regards to the number of permitted check in bags, carry on bags, the weight of each, how soon before the flight they must be checked in, and their physical sizes permitted. They will also inform you in some cases of the procedure for claims for lost baggage. There are even toll free numbers given for baggage claims in a few instances.
Reservations At most of the websites you can make reservations and in fact that is usually done at the home page. This e-ticket or ticketless way of flying is extremely popular and is a much faster way of getting through the airport waiting lines.
Check-In Times There isn't necessarily a section of a site devoted to check-in times but it certainly will serve you well to search the site well or to call them if you don't find the information on your own. This information is constantly changing and varies with each airline, airport, and between domestic and international flights. As an example, at this time one well known airline recommends that its passengers arrive at the airport 60 - 90 minutes before scheduled departure, that their bags be checked at least 30 minutes prior, and that they personally be checked in at the gate at least 15 minutes prior to scheduled departure even if you have confirmed reservations. These are their posted policies and are apparently binding.
Security You will often find reminders of what to expect at the airport. There are now limitations on some items in carry on luggage. There are also identification requirements that you should be aware of and this information is sometimes found on these airline websites.
Pets In Flight Some airlines are more "pet friendly" than others and you would be wise to check with each airline on your intended route before taking a pet on a trip.
Infants & Children There may be health reasons not to take a newborn on a flight but the airlines also have different rates for different ages. They also have a separate policy and rates for unaccompanied children. This information can usually be found on the airline website.
